Forestry Contractors Respond to Boric on Violence in Southern Macrozone: "No One Is Redundant in the Territory"
After the President of Chile, Gabriel Boric, stated that "many forestry companies are willing to withdraw from part of the territory" in the Southern Macrozone, forestry contractors responded by asserting that no one is redundant in these territories.
Forestry contractors countered President Gabriel Boric, stating that no one is redundant in the Southern Macrozone and that agreements should prevail over eliminating sectors. This came after the head of state claimed many forestry companies are open to withdrawing from parts of the territory.
In an interview with Archi, the country's highest authority delved into several issues, particularly regarding the violence in Chile's Southern Macrozone.
On this matter, he referred to a shift in land acquisition logic, stating, "Many forestry companies are willing to withdraw from part of the territory, engage in open dialogue, and are open to reaching agreements that ease tensions—provided these ensure peace and fair negotiations."
The manager of the Association of Forestry Contractors, René Muñoz, emphasized that the priority is achieving peace, stability, and eradicating terrorist groups and illicit associations in the area.
He then stressed the need to find a way to foster agreements among the various actors in the conflict zone, adding, "No one is redundant in the territory; everyone is important."
Forestry contractors strongly criticized Sebastián Piñera's government following multiple attacks that even left sector workers injured. They have also been critical of the impact and management of the Constitutional State of Exception in Bío Bío and Araucanía provinces.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Izkia Siches announced she will visit the Araucanía region this week to begin the "de-escalation" of the State of Exception in the Southern Macrozone.
"We know there are several security issues, but also unresolved state obligations that have not been addressed in the area," she said.
