After the gunfire recorded during the visit of Interior Minister Izkia Siches, who intended to reach the Mapuche community of Temucuicui (La Araucanía region), the representative of forestry contractors, René Muñoz, stated that "this is what happens to all residents of the Southern Macrozone."
The representative of forestry contractors, René Muñoz, referred to the gunfire recorded in the community of Ercilla—La Araucanía region—upon the arrival of Minister Siches.
"Welcome, Minister, to the harsh reality—this is what happens to all residents of these areas," Muñoz stated, adding that the guild hopes they reconsider the plan (not to extend the State of Emergency) and acknowledge the reality, "what the residents of the Southern Macrozone live through."
"What happened today in the Temucuicui community to Minister Siches is nothing more than what happens to all residents of the La Araucanía region and the province of Arauco in Bío Bío," he affirmed.
He added that what happened to the minister is precisely part of the unchecked and entrenched violence affecting the area.
