The Presidential Delegate of the Bío Bío region, Daniela Dresdner, has received mixed reactions after stating that "the Government has no way to control the violence occurring in the area." Representatives of the victims are calling for her to step aside.

Harsh criticism has been directed at Bío Bío's presidential delegate, Daniela Dresdner, after she claimed that the Government has no way to control the violent situation in the region.

The criticism arose after Dresdner made these statements during an interview with Cooperativa.

This situation sparked differing opinions from victim representatives, who are demanding she step aside.

The president of the Association of Forestry Contractors, René Muñoz, lamented the Presidential Delegate's remarks.

"It's regrettable because she is an authority figure who should know that there are tools established in the Constitution, such as States of Exception. It's another matter if they lack the courage to make that decision," Muñoz stated.

Additionally, Dresdner, during her interview with the media outlet, stated that "it is necessary to differentiate between acts that are truly terrorist and those that are demands of a people, whose claims are also protected by ILO Convention 169."

The president of the Foundation for Victims of Terrorism, Fernando Fuentealba, called Dresdner's statements unacceptable and urged her to step aside.

"There is indeed terrorism in our area. When cell towers are blown up with explosives, when attempts are made to destroy bridges between Tirúa and Cañete with explosives, when our Carabineros are ambushed today—but on top of that, you just stated you don’t know how to control it. I invite you to resign and make way for someone with the capability and willingness to do so," Fuentealba declared.

The criticized Dresdner avoided addressing these remarks, quickly leaving the location where a press briefing was scheduled without making any statements.
