Public Statement
Thirty days after the inauguration of President Gabriel Boric's government, the impact on our activity continues to grow. Below, we present some figures:
1.- 12 arson attacks on forestry equipment and workers:
- 4 in the Biobío region
- 8 in the La Araucanía region
2.- 12 attacks in the last 30 days make this month the most violent on record since January 2014.
3.- These arson attacks in the provinces of Arauco and La Araucanía have affected 14 companies providing forestry services, impacting 1,400 workers associated with them.
4.- In these attacks, three workers were injured, fortunately with no fatal consequences.
5.- Every 2.5 days, an attack is carried out, undermining our work and the freedom of enterprise in these primarily timber-producing development zones.
We will continue to insist on calls for this government to take seriously the problem affecting us, which is undoubtedly part of a cultural conflict requiring progress in dialogue—but also demanding a strategy to combat criminal and terrorist activity that cannot be ignored.
We emphasize the need for a special focus on the violence affecting our industry, given the strategic importance of this productive sector for these regions.
We are available to contribute and support in this effort.
