Forestry Contractors Report Shooting Attack on Work Site in Los Álamos: Worker Managed to Escape

The Association of Forestry Contractors reported a shooting attack on one of their work sites in the commune of Los Álamos, Bío Bío region. According to its leader, René Muñoz, the worker operating the targeted machine managed to escape and, due to the danger, decided to stop working in the area.

A forestry operation was attacked by gunfire on Monday afternoon in the commune of Los Álamos, Bío Bío region.

According to information gathered by Radio Bío Bío, the incident occurred in the Cuyinco sector.

As recounted by the manager of the Association of Forestry Contractors, René Muñoz, a skidder was shot at while being operated by a worker, who managed to escape.

Images provided to Radio Bío Bío show at least two types of projectile impacts, one larger than the others, suggesting the use of different types of weaponry.

The perpetrators were reportedly hidden before the attack and fled into the bushes after the shooting.

Muñoz stated that the affected worker was unharmed but, as a result of the incident, decided to leave the industry due to the dangers of working in the area.

The leader condemned the attack and expressed his concern to Radio Bío Bío about the escalation of violence, confirming that in this case, even a rifle was used.

He also urged authorities to visit the province of Arauco to witness firsthand the dangers faced by forestry workers in the area.
