Forestry Contractors Question Exclusion of Los Ríos and Los Lagos in State of Exception
Dissatisfied with the State of Exception in effect in La Araucanía and two provinces of Bío Bío, the Association of Forestry Contractors expressed discontent over the exclusion of the Los Ríos and Los Lagos regions. They also requested military patrols on secondary roads, as attacks are not only occurring on main highways.
The Association of Forestry Contractors deemed the State of Exception decreed for La Araucanía and Bío Bío as insufficient, stating that the Government's commitment was also to include Los Ríos and Los Lagos.
Reactions continue to the decree signed by President Gabriel Boric, which allows military deployment across the entire La Araucanía region and two provinces of the Bío Bío region in response to the rise in violent incidents.
However, the Association of Forestry Contractors expressed dissatisfaction, as they expected the measure to also cover the Los Ríos and Los Lagos regions.
The director of the association in the southern zone, Roberto Castro, stated that the working group had agreed to include the entire Southern Macrozone.
The leader also voiced uncertainty about the military's role, as violent incidents occur not only on highways but also within private properties.
In a statement, they added that it concerns them that "when addressing public security issues, which impact investment and development, ideology is prioritized over the common good."
