Arauco Lays Off 300 Workers Nationwide Due to Company Restructuring
The company Arauco terminated 300 workers this Tuesday across various plants located throughout the country.
According to sources from Radio Bío Bío, the layoffs include operators from different areas, both in plants and offices, and even within management.
These terminations are part of a restructuring process the company is undergoing, for which it hired a global consulting firm to review its structure. In September, the firm defined the new organizational model for the company.
This follows the earlier decision to merge Arauco's forestry and pulp divisions several weeks ago.
As a result, at least 300 layoffs are taking place across plants in Constitución, Nueva Aldea, Horcones, and San José de la Mariquina, as well as in offices in Concepción and Santiago.
This decision comes in addition to the indefinite shutdown of operations at theLicancelpulp plant, located in the Maule region, which was announced on September 12 and left 163 workers unemployed.
Similarly,in July, over 90 employees lost their jobs after the closure of the Horcones 2 sawmill, located within the Horcones industrial forestry complex in the commune of Arauco, in the Bío Bío region.
