This Saturday, the Cañete Guarantee Court decided to release Felipe Mora Saravia, a suspect who had been arrested on Friday by Carabineros officers for allegedly stealing timber from a farm.

He was formally charged on Saturday for timber theft and given precautionary measures, including monthly check-ins at the Cañete Carabineros station and a prohibition from approaching the farm. A four-month investigation period was established.

Mora Saravia is identified by authorities as a "person of interest" due to alleged links with the Resistencia Mapuche Lafkenche group, an organization that has claimed responsibility for several arson attacks in the Southern Macrozone.

Additionally, according to information provided to Emol, the detainee is the brother of PDI Commissioner Alex Mora Saravia. The officer was recently part of the Special Police Investigations Brigade (BIPE) in Concepción but was transferred to duties at Nuevo Pudahuel Airport in Santiago. He is currently on medical leave.

The suspect's arrest occurred yesterday around 7:00 PM. Personnel from MAXCOM's forestry company and Carabineros detected unauthorized logging operations on the El Ciprés property, owned by Arauco S.A.

An aerial patrol was conducted, spotting a cargo truck moving westward along Route P-560. Carabineros intercepted the vehicle and confirmed it was loaded with pine timber.
