At least three logging trucks burned in arson attack in Lumaco
Early this Wednesday morning, several police incidents occurred in the province of Malleco, involving arson attacks, robberies, and road blockades, in theLa Araucanía region.
The most serious incident occurred around 6:00 a.m.,when a group of people felled trees and blocked the road connecting Lumaco with Capitán Pastene, near kilometer 12. Then,they proceeded to burn at least three logging trucks traveling through the area.
The prefect of Carabineros in Malleco, ColonelPatricio Martínez, confirmed the incident and stated that at this time, personnel from the Public Order Control (COP) unit of the uniformed police continue working to clear the road.
Meanwhile, during the night, another police incident was reported on Route 5 South,near the Collipulli junction in Mininco, where unidentified individuals intimidated two pickup truck drivers, forced them to drive a few kilometers, and then made them exit their vehicles to steal them and flee the scene.
Finally, a roadblock occurred on R-49, near kilometer 23, between Collipulli and the Amargo Pemehue area. Carabineros worked at the scene to clear the road.
