Government claims 30% of convictions for rural violence in Arauco province issued since 2022

The Government highlighted an increase in effective convictions for acts of rural violence in Arauco province. According to the data, from 2014 to date, 60 people have been convicted for violent crimes.
From the Association of Forestry Contractors, they said it is progress; however, they noted that in the last decade only one person has been convicted for attacks against their members.
According to figures provided by the Government, from 2014 to date, 60 people have been convicted for acts of rural violence in Arauco province, of which 18 sentences have been effective in the last two years.
The presidential delegate in the area, Humberto Toro, emphasized that between 2022 and 2023, 30% of the convictions from the last 10 years have been concentrated.
