The Association of Forestry Contractors (Acoforag) spoke out against the proposal by the president of the National Institute of Human Rights (INDH), Consuelo Contreras, who stated that a dialogue table is missing, one that should include the Arauco-Malleco Coordinator (CAM).

This, to establish "a sort of truce and halt violent actions, but they must be brought to the table to resolve the problems they have or raise because, otherwise, violent acts will continue on the margins."

Through a statement, Acoforag stated that "it is irresponsible and reckless for a state official, working in a Human Rights Institution who has never cared about the human rights of the thousands of victims of terrorist groups, to express this opinion."

"Enough of the enlightened men and women from Santiago proposing ideological solutions under circumstances they neither know nor have ever set foot in the territory, let alone suffered what many victims in southern Chile have endured," they added.

They also mentioned that "we believe in a political solution to the endless cycle of violence that exists today in the southern macro-zone, but this must come from the consensus of the inhabitants who are currently suffering and who understand its origin and solution."
