Luis Tranamil Found Guilty of Murder of Carabineros Officer Eugenio Naín
The Oral Criminal Court of Temuco issued a guilty verdict this Tuesday againstLuis Tranamilas a co-perpetrator in the completed homicide of an on-duty carabinero, specifically Second Corporal Eugenio Naín, an incident recorded in October 2020 in Padre Las Casas, in theLa Araucanía region.
The court also confirmed the community member's involvement in the crimes of attempted homicide of another carabinero and the simple attempted homicide of a truck driver traveling on the route that day.
The court acquitted him of the charge of illegal possession of a firearm.
The sentencing hearing will take place on Tuesday, December 19, at 1:00 PM.
After learning of the guilty verdict, prosecutor Carlos Bustos stated that they are seeking the maximum penalty of 20 years in prison for the murder of carabinero Naín; 14 years for the attempted homicide of another police officer; and 7 years in prison for the simple attempted homicide of a civilian.
During the hearing, it was noted that evidence was presented establishing the timeline and locations where Tranamil was situated, which placed him at the crime scene.
The events date back to October 30, 2020, when, during an operation to clear barricades blocking the South Route 5, the patrol in which Naín was traveling was ambushed by a group of individuals. One of the gunshots struck the officer, who died due to the severity of his injuries.
It should be noted that a group of community members arrived at the court to hear the verdict.
