Three arrested and weapons seized in Cañete raid: alleged members of radical group

Three people were arrested during a raid carried out early this Friday in the commune of Cañete, in the Bío Bío region. The operation was conducted by personnel from the PDI and the Navy in the rural area of Huape.
According to information obtained by Radio Bío Bío, the operation took place near kilometer 22 of Route P-72S.
Two women and one man were arrested during the operation, where weapons and ammunition were seized. The three individuals are alleged to be members of the radical group Resistencia Mapuche Lafkenche. After their arrest, they were taken to a police unit in Bío Bío, pending further action by the Prosecutor's Office.
In protest against these arrests, individuals set up barricades with trees on the route between Tirúa and Cañete, past the Lanalhue bridge.
The operation resulted in the seizure of three long guns, two handguns, 9mm ammunition, a bulletproof vest, a ballistic helmet, portable radios, and technological devices such as drones and cell phones.
Two of the three detainees have prior records for disorderly conduct.
The provincial presidential delegate of Arauco, Humberto Toro, stated that this is part of an investigation into violent incidents occurring in the province of Arauco. This follows last week's operation in the same province, where a large number of people were arrested for the crime of timber theft.
