Arson attack on estate in La Unión: losses estimated at $500 million
An arson attack occurred during the night of this Saturday in the commune of La Unión, in the Los Ríos region.
The incident took place around 9:30 p.m. at the Rapaco estate, near kilometer 5 of Route T-80. At the site, unknown individuals burned three sheds containing 1,500 bales of grass inside.
According to estimates by the property owner, the economic losses resulting from this attack amount to 500 million pesos.
Prosecutor Raúl Suárez ordered the Carabineros Criminalistics Department (Labocar) to investigate the incident.
"Carabineros is carrying out investigative procedures to establish the facts and locate these antisocial individuals," stated Captain Andrés Mora Quezada, commissioner of the Third Police Station of La Unión.
