Deputy from La Araucanía Accuses that "Radicalized Groups Are Connected to the Government"
Andrés Jouannet, a deputy from the Amarillos party representing the La Araucanía region, denounced that "radicalized groups are connected to the Government."
It is worth mentioning that the parliamentarian participated in the meeting held by President Gabriel Boric last night atCerro Castillo{{TEXT_4}}
It was during a conversation with the media outlet Ex-Ante that the deputy made these harsh accusations.
In this context, Jouannet was asked about the Government's role in ending violence in La Araucanía.
"I believe the Government will improve in implementation, perhaps adding some extra Carabineros, but the truth is that the Government—from an ideological standpoint, one faction of it, not those from the Concertación—does not want to act against violence due to ideological reasons. Because, ultimately, there will be confrontations, and when there are confrontations, there can be loss of human lives," stated the parliamentarian.
Government and Radicalized Groups
Regarding alleged links between Government officials and the CAM (Arauco Malleco Coordinator), the Amarillos deputy stated, "Indeed, and this happened last year with advisors like the former Health Seremi, who was quickly removed from his position. He had been one of the founders of the CAM, and there are other positions the Government will have to review to determine the actual connections of officials with radical groups in La Araucanía."
"This is a Government afraid to take action in the La Araucanía region. It fears acting against radicalized groups because I believe these groups are connected to the Government, linked through Government officials," accused the deputy.
The legislator even mentioned, "There are people working in the Government who have been linked to more radical groups, without a doubt."
When asked if there was proof of this, Jouannet said yes. "Last year, a press advisor had been one of the founders of the CAM," the parliamentarian specified.
"Two Souls" of the Government
In a conversation with Radio Bío Bío, the deputy asserted this "with the responsibility I have always taken in politics, because later when we see things happening—or does the case of Minister (Jeanette) Vega not exist?"
"I have no problem, but the truth is this is a Government with two souls. One part consists of the heirs of the Concertación, and others who today will vote against the State of Exception and always justify these kinds of situations," declared the parliamentarian.
When asked if he should provide empirical evidence, Jouannet responded, "Do you think hiring José Millalen is acceptable? A man who tells farmers that peace is conditional on land concessions (...)."
