Hooded Armed Attackers Assaulted a Group of Carabineros on a Property in Panguipulli
A group of Carabineros was attacked by hooded armed individuals during the morning of Friday, May 19, at the Fundo Trafún in Panguipulli, region ofLos Ríos. The information was confirmed by the institution.
The incident occurred when the police officers, along with personnel from the forestry company, were preparing to operate a drone. At that moment, they were attacked.
The property is located in the town of Liquiñe, a site under judicial protection, where last year armed hooded individuals intimidated residents and burned four cabins, a chapel, and other nearby structures.
No injuries were reported, as the officers retreated during the attack, a fact confirmed by the Presidential Delegate of Los Ríos, Carla Peña.
"According to the initial report from Carabineros, during a routine patrol at Fundo Trafún in the commune of Panguipulli, they encountered unidentified individuals armed with firearms who fired shots and then fled upon noticing the police presence," she explained.
The Prosecutor's Office is expected to provide updates on ongoing investigations. Meanwhile, the Government did not rule out taking action in response to this violent incident.
Following the incident, Carabineros confirmed the reinforcement of protective measures at Fundo Trafún in Panguipulli after the attack.
