Unknown individuals cut the lateral supports of a bridge in San José de La Mariquina,Los Ríos region, preventing vehicle traffic to various sectors and properties of Forestal Arauco.

Authorities ruled out connectivity issues and confirmed that the company will file a legal complaint.

The structure is a wooden bridge located within an Arauco property, installed for the passage of animals and trucks traveling to different sectors of San José de La Mariquina.

The issues were noticed by drivers passing through the area known as the "forestry bypass," confirming that unknown individuals had cut the lateral supports with a chainsaw.

The mayor of Mariquina,Rolando Mitre, stated that the company reported a "sabotage" and explained that the bridge collapsed because the longitudinal beams could NOT withstand vehicle traffic.

The situation was deemed serious by local authorities, as although the bridge is owned by Arauco, the road is used by neighbors traveling toward the Ciruelos and Rucaco sectors.

Mayor Mitre ruled out connectivity issues, assuring that neighbors have alternative routes to exit the areas near the forestry bypass.

According to him, repairs will be handled by Arauco and could take about 5 days, with the commitment to restore the bridge to operational status.

Meanwhile, the company only confirmed the filing of a legal complaint and avoided calling it sabotage.
