Massive Operation in Cañete Seizes Multi-Million Dollar Machinery from Criminal Gang

Machinery valued at 60 million pesos was seized during a police operation carried out this Wednesday on a forest property in the commune of Cañete, Biobío region.

According to police reports, a criminal organization dedicated to timber theft in the Southern Macrozone was also identified.

Additionally, accelerant liquid and a motorcycle used to provide security for the criminal gang were found at the site.

As explained by Captain Elizabeth Ibacache, acting head of the OS9 Biobío section, this operation "represents a significant action against this organization, as the logistical resources used to carry out the investigated crime were seized."

The operation also involved the Local Prosecutor's Office of Cañete, personnel from the Public Order Control Prefecture, and the Chilean Navy.
