Two Mapuche community members arrested for robbery and arson on route linking Victoria and Curacautín
Two Mapuche community members were arrested as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of robbery with intimidation and arson recorded on March 9 on the route between Victoria and Curacautín, in the La Araucanía region.
According to information from Radio Bío Bío, it was an operation by theInvestigative Policethat led—during the night of this Tuesday—to the capture of Luis Alexis Huenchullán Millanao and Sebastián Alonso Marillan.
Both had arrest warrants against them for the crimes of robbery with intimidation and arson committed on the aforementioned date in Victoria.
According to the respective reports, during that day, a worker from a forestry company—who was driving his truck on the route between the aforementioned municipality and Curacautín—was intercepted near the Selva Osucra crossing.
There, he was threatened with firearms by the occupants of two trucks, who stole his vehicle and a drone with its respective equipment.
Immediately afterward, the accused allegedly proceeded to set the worker's truck on fire.
Additionally, a lawsuit has been filed by the owners of a property and the equipment that was destroyed.
Finally, the arrested community members will be presented before the Victoria Guarantee Court for the detention control hearing.
