Three People Arrested for Flagrant Theft of Timber in Mariquina

Three adult men were arrested yesterday by detectives from the Valdivia Criminal Investigation Brigade after being caught stealing timber inside a property in the commune of Mariquina.
The PDI officers, during investigative procedures and in a coordinated effort with the Public Prosecutor's Office, managed to locate and arrest three individuals inside a property in the Pureo sector. They were actively stealing timber from various forest properties and had just extracted a significant shipment of pine and native wood in logs from the property.
The detainees, aged 55, 51, and 33 respectively, had no prior arrest records or pending court orders. During the arrest, authorities seized two trucks, three chainsaws, and over 15 cubic meters of pine and native timber in logs measuring 2 to 3 meters each, all valued at more than 20 million pesos.
The detainees were placed at the disposal of the San José de la Mariquina Guarantee Court.
