Two arson attacks took place during the early hours of this Sunday in the La Araucanía region, where unknown individuals burned machinery and warehouses in incidents occurring in the communes of Lautaro and Perquenco.

According to information gathered by the regional prosecutor's office, the first incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. in the commune of Lautaro, specifically at the Quintrilpe estate in the Pillanlelbún area.

There, according to prosecutor Héctor Leiva, "a group of approximately seven individuals entered the property, intimidated the owner, searched for weapons, and then took him to a main house, which they burned completely."

They then left the site, "leaving a banner referencing Mapuche political prisoners, with the words 'Mapuche National Liberation.'"

Additionally, they attempted to set a tractor on fire, though they did not fully succeed, as the victims themselves prevented it from being completely consumed by the flames.

The second incident occurred around 2:15 a.m., when Carabineros were alerted by the administrator of the Doña Nena estate, located on route S-328, kilometer 6.5 in the commune of Perquenco.

According to current findings, "a group of approximately seven hooded, armed individuals entered the property, intimidated a worker, forced him inside the residence, and then proceeded to burn a series of buildings on the premises."

Among the structures burned were all the warehouses and machinery located on the estate.

Due to the circumstances, proximity, and modus operandi of the incidents, it is presumed that both were carried out by the same group of people, who are currently being sought.

The High Complexity Prosecutor's Office is in charge of the corresponding investigations, with support from the Forensic Laboratory and Carabineros' OS-9.
