New Attack in the Southern Macrozone: Suspects Burn at Least 19 Trucks and Leave One Injured in Los Ríos
A new arson attack was reported in the early hours of this morning in the Los Ríos Region. Specifically, the assault occurred in the commune of Los Lagos, where one person was injured and at least 19 trucks were destroyed.
According to the Public Ministry, the incident took place in the Malihue area, where a group of individuals set fire to trucks on-site. Although investigative efforts are ongoing, the prosecuting authority does not yet have an official count of the damage.
However, sources from Emol confirm that the attack—preliminarily—left one injured and 19 trucks destroyed.
According to police reports, the attack—carried out during the early morning—targeted the company Tricam, dedicated to road construction and earthmoving, which has its facilities in the Cabañas San Pedro area, between Mafil and Los Lagos.
Around 10 unknown individuals arrived at the location and, after the attack, left a banner from the Mapuche National Liberation (LNM), a group that burned 18 trucks in Panguipulli in 2018. The suspects threatened guards with firearms, stole their phones, and then set the machinery ablaze.
The LNM's banner demands the withdrawal of forestry companies. The regional presidential delegation announced legal action over the attack. Firefighters responded to the emergency and contained the blaze. Additionally, the assaulted worker sustained minor injuries.
Personnel from Lacrim and Bipe are working at the scene.
