Armed group carries out violent arson attack in Traiguén: a church, school, health center, community center, and three vehicles burned
One of the most severe arson attacksin recent times was recorded inLa Araucanía during the early hours of this Wednesday in the Aniñir sector, in Quechereguas, on the route connecting Traiguén with Ercilla.
A church, a school, a health center, a community center, and three vehicles, including an ambulance, were burned in this attack.
The group Resistencia Mapuche Malleco claimed responsibility for this large-scale attack, where the destruction of these facilities and vehicles was total.
A banner was found at the scene demanding the transfer of Mapuche prisoners to other detention facilities and the removal of "racist institutions" from the State.
Further details of the incident in La Araucanía were provided by Major Aldo Vittini. "Today, during the early hours, a group of unknown individuals entered a property located in the Aniñir area, in the commune of Traiguén, where the local health center, an elementary school, a community center, and a church are located. Using presumably incendiary devices, they proceeded to completely burn down these buildings," he stated.
"Once the individuals fled the scene, they also burned three private vehicles and the ambulance from the local health center. After reporting to the Public Prosecutor's Office, specialized personnel were dispatched to conduct the necessary investigations, led by OS9 and Labocar officers from Carabineros," he added.
Specialized personnel from Carabineros and Army members are on-site to carry out forensic examinations, determine the dynamics of the events, and identify those responsible for this latest arson attack recorded in La Araucanía.
