Following another attack on a forestry contractor that occurred this morning in the commune of Loncoche, the Association of Forestry Contractors A.G. states the following:

.- This is the 4th attack so far in 2024 and the 474th since January 1, 2014.

.- The illusion created by the decrease in attacks in 2023, along with the capture of terrorists, the enactment of the timber theft law, and the squatting law, clashes with this significant rise in terrorist actions in the forest in January 2024, DESPITE THE STATE OF EXCEPTION.

.- It has already been 10 years of persistent violence against contractors and their workers, and a crime against the human and constitutional rights of those of us who work in the forest has been NORMALIZED.

.- We reaffirm that the State must take more decisive action to attack and control these incidents, as it is the State (government, politicians, and judges) that is called upon to legislate and judge.

.- We cannot institutionalize looking the other way and letting things happen. The State, by action or omission, is responsible for stopping what is happening in the southern macrozone. THAT IS NOT HAPPENING TODAY.
