The La Araucanía Region was shaken this morning following the discovery of an arson attack that left two forestry machines completely destroyed.
The incident, which adds to a series of similar acts in the area, was reported by a supervisor of a contractor company's forestry operation. The Prosecutor's Office has already ordered the intervention of the Labocar and Carabineros' O.S.9 to investigate the event, in which a banner with political demands was found.
The attack took place on a property that had already been the scene of violence in October 2021, when an arson attack, claimed by the group Weichán Auca Mapu, resulted in the destruction of workers' homes, trucks, and other vehicles.
The current situation has raised alarm in the community and among authorities, who are seeking to clarify the facts and identify those responsible for this act, which has caused losses estimated at 15 million pesos.
