Forest fires in the Valparaíso region: Presidential delegate confirms 4 arrests related to the incidents

The regional authority explained that the Public Ministry has ordered the Investigative Police (PDI), through its Environmental Crimes Brigade (BIDEMA), to investigate the causes of these fires.
Amid the emergency caused by forest fires affecting several communes in the Valparaíso region, presidential delegate Sofía González confirmed the arrest of four individuals for their alleged involvement in starting some of these incidents.
In particular, the Ocoa fire in the Hijuelas commune was highlighted as one of the incidents under investigation.

"Four individuals have already been arrested in connection with these events, including a foreign national," stated González, emphasizing the severity of the situation in a region currently under a red alert.
The Los Molles fire in the Quilpué commune has devastated nearly 300 hectares of native vegetation, while the Ocoa fire has led to the evacuation of 45 people. Emergency teams, including crews from the National Forestry Corporation (Conaf), firefighters, and helicopters, are deployed in the area in an effort to contain the spread of the flames.
