The Camcopter S-100 is an unmanned aerial vehicle designed for surveillance and reconnaissance tasks in both land and maritime environments. This autonomous system stands out for its ability to operate in diverse conditions and settings, providing a flexible and efficient tool for security operations.
Carolina Tohá highlighted the importance of this new acquisition within the technological advancements plan for security, mentioning other devices such as the SITIA system and border control equipment. According to the minister, the drone's arrival reinforces the State's presence in the Southern Macrozona, a key area for Chile's security strategy.
"Other examples include the SITIA system (Integrated Teleprotection System with Artificial Intelligence) and the new border control equipment. Its value is particularly significant because it will be dedicated to strengthening the State's presence in the Southern Macrozona," stated the official.
"The security strategy developed there has included many reinforcements, such as new security devices on routes, the incorporation of armored vehicles, the development of forward bases, the strengthening of investigative teams, and the coordination of joint work protocols among different institutions. The results of this effort have been widely recognized, but we need them to be consolidated and deepened over time, and this new acquisition will contribute to that goal," added Tohá.
The Camcopter S-100 features a vertical takeoff and landing system, eliminating the need for launch equipment and specific spaces. This design provides great flexibility for use in various scenarios and facilitates its operation in diverse terrain conditions.
The drone boasts advanced features, such as a speed of up to 185 km/h, six hours of autonomy, and the ability to transmit up to four video channels simultaneously. It also offers integrated video storage and processing. To ensure proper operation, training was conducted for operators and maintenance personnel at Schiebel's facilities.
