A man was arrested accused of starting a fire on a forested property in the commune of Los Álamos, in the Bío Bío region.

The arrest in flagrante delicto occurred on Thursday night during patrols carried out by Carabineros in areas where wood theft and fire outbreaks are reported.

Regarding this case, the provincial delegate of Arauco, Humberto Toro, confirmed that individuals have been detected burning properties to later steal wood for firewood.

"We are coordinating with the police, focusing on the areas where these fire outbreaks are occurring, with the aim of burning forests to steal wood for firewood," stated the government authority.

The workers were intercepted by an individual in the Los Ríos Reserve, who threatened them with a firearm, forced them to leave the area, and also stole a chainsaw from them.
