With the aim of preventing and mitigating the impacts of wildfires, the Forest Protection Department of the Chilean Wood Corporation – Corma, the Superintendency of Electricity and Fuels (SEC), and various electric companies have launched a collaborative plan focused on the high-risk fire season.

Representatives from the companies Copelec, Saesa, CGE, Coelcha, Codiner, and Frontel, as well as from the federation of electric cooperatives Fenacopel, along with executives from forestry companies associated with Corma, met in Chillán to establish strategies and strengthen coordination in emergency management.

During the meeting, they agreed to implement initiatives to reduce risks in critical areas, optimize action protocols, and improve response capacity in the event of potential disasters.

Ramón Figueroa, president of the Forest Protection Department of Corma, highlighted the importance of this alliance, stating, "We value the willingness to find common ground to work together. In wildfires, the biggest victims are the neighbors, and we must seek shared perspectives on prevention and emergency management to bridge gaps and foster joint efforts."

Meanwhile, Patricio Lagos, general manager of Copelec Companies, emphasized that "it is a milestone to have electric companies sitting down with forestry companies on an issue that concerns society and prevention. It is crucial today because we must avoid fires, tragedies, and catastrophes, and we must always be prepared. If we all act in a coordinated, organized manner, with a focus on the people affected by these issues, we will achieve great success."

The alliance between Corma and electric companies sets a precedent in the fight against wildfires, reaffirming both parties' commitment to protecting natural heritage and the well-being of affected communities.
