New wave of violence in Araucanía leaves vehicles burned in Freire
- A group of unidentified individuals carried out an arson attack in the commune of Freire, marking the second incident of this kind in less than 24 hours in the region.
In a concerning escalation of violence, the commune of Freire in the Araucanía Region was the scene of a new arson attack this morning. According to reports from Carabineros, a group of masked individuals entered the Lolenco forestry property, where they proceeded to intimidate workers and set fire to machinery and vehicles.
Colonel Cristián Vera Pesce, prefect of Villarrica, detailed that the assailants burned four agricultural machines, three trucks, and a pickup truck. After the attack, the criminals fled in a forestry vehicle, which was also burned outside the property. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.
The prosecutor's office has tasked Labocar and Carabineros' OS9 with conducting the necessary forensic work to clarify the facts and identify those responsible. This attack follows another that occurred just a day earlier at the Clementina estate in Vilcún, where machinery and sheds were also burned. In that case, the perpetrators left banners demanding the release of Luis Tranamil Nahuel, convicted for the homicide of Carabineros corporal Eugenio Nain.
The situation in Araucanía remains tense, and these arson attacks reflect a pattern of violence that authorities are still struggling to control. The community awaits answers and effective measures to ensure safety and peace in the region.
