• The Regional Prosecutor's Office of La Araucanía celebrates a "historic verdict" following the guilty verdict against Héctor Llaitul for crimes of rural violence and organized crime.

Justice has spoken in La Araucanía, and its echo resonates as a milestone in Chile's judicial history. Héctor Llaitul, a well-known leader in the area, has been found guilty of four crimes, including two under the State Security Law. This verdict not only underscores the strength of the evidence presented by the prosecution but also highlights the meticulous investigative work carried out by the Investigative Police.

Prosecutor Roberto Garrido expressed his satisfaction with the outcome, describing the process as "very complex" and the ruling as "very important." According to the prosecutor, Llaitul's leadership has been "omnipresent" and essential to the existence of the organization behind the acts of rural violence that have affected the region. Testimonies from victims across four different regions have helped demonstrate the scope and consequences of the attacks incited by the accused.

The sentence, which is still pending the determination of the penalty, could add up to 25 years in prison for the various crimes charged. This ruling not only represents relief for the victims but also sends a clear message against organized crime in rural areas, setting a precedent in the fight for security and public order in La Araucanía and beyond.

The Prosecutor's Office continues with related investigations, emphasizing the relevance of this case in shaping the judicial and security landscape of the region. This "historic verdict" is not just the closing of a chapter but also a starting point toward greater stability and justice in Chile's rural areas.
