  • In a strategic move, Arauco restructures its top management by eliminating the executive vice president role and appoints Cristián Infante Bilbao as the chief executive..

The forestry company Arauco has announced significant changes to its organizational structure following the shareholders' meeting held this Tuesday. Matías Domeyko, who held the position of executive vice president since 2011, will leave his role as part of a reorganization aimed at simplifying the company's top leadership. Going forward, General Manager Cristián Infante Bilbao will assume the role of chief executive, reporting directly to the board.

Arauco's newly elected board consists of Marcela Bravo Puldain, Jorge Andueza Fouque, Roberto Angelini Rossi, Jorge Bunster Betteley, Matías Domeyko Cassel, Juan Ignacio Langlois Margozzini, Franco Mellafe Angelini, Eduardo Navarro Beltrán, and Timothy C. Purcell.

In a communication to the Financial Market Commission (CMF), the company detailed the elimination of the executive vice president position and the appointment of Domeyko as board chairman, with Roberto Angelini and Jorge Andueza serving as vice chairs.

Matías Domeyko has had a long career at Arauco, starting in 1987 and, after a period at Copec, rejoining in 1997. As general manager since 2005 and later as executive vice president, Domeyko has been a key figure in the company's growth. Under his leadership, Arauco's assets grew from $6.114 billion in 2005 to $17.910 billion in 2023. One of the milestones of his tenure was the Modernization and Expansion of the Arauco Plant (MAPA).

With these changes, Arauco aims to adapt to new market challenges and continue its expansion and consolidation as one of the leading companies in the global forestry sector.
