UdeC to Celebrate Forestry Engineer Day by Giving Away Native Trees
- The university invites the community to join the reforestation effort by giving away 4,500 native trees on May 4 at the Faculty of Forest Sciences.
With the goal of promoting reforestation and environmental awareness, the University of Concepción (UdeC) is preparing to celebrate Forestry Engineer Day in a very special way. This Saturday, May 4, starting at 10:30 AM, the Faculty of Forest Sciences will open its doors to give away 4,500 native tree saplings for free to all those interested in contributing to environmental care by planting a tree at home.
The initiative, which was highly successful last year, not only aims to increase greenery in our homes and cities but also to educate the public about the importance of preserving and understanding our native flora. During the event, attendees can participate in clinics to resolve questions about tree planting and maintenance, as well as receive direct advice from experts.
Additionally, the activity will feature informational booths, such as the Faculty's Entomology Laboratory, which will share fascinating facts about insect biology and diversity. Organizations like Fundación El Árbol, Conaf, and Corma will also be present, strengthening collaboration between the university and entities committed to environmental protection.
Among the native tree species to be given away are quillay, peumo, oak, araucaria, maitén, pelu, canelo, and naranjillo. These specimens have been carefully selected to promote biodiversity and adaptability to various urban and rural environments.
The University of Concepción invites the entire community to be part of this green event and take home a piece of Chilean nature. It is a unique opportunity to learn, contribute to the environment, and celebrate the commitment of forestry engineers to the sustainability of our forests and ecosystems.
