Futuro Madera, an organization representing 6 trade associations, expressed its deepest condolences and full solidarity to the families of the murdered police officers and to the Carabineros de Chile institution.
Sergeant 1st Class Carlos Cisternas Navarro, Corporal 1st Class Sergio Arévalo Lobos, and Corporal 1st Class Misael Vidal Cid were fathers, husbands, sons, friends, neighbors, upstanding individuals, and citizens of this country who were murdered while fulfilling their duty.
"All of us who work and depend on the forestry industry unfortunately know firsthand what violence, crime, and terrorism entail, and we also know what it feels like to face the indifference of the State and the political world, as we have endured their failures for far too long."
For this reason, "we share the pain that the institution and the families of the three police officers cowardly murdered are going through today. At the same time, we call on the Government of Chile, all political sectors, the authorities of the different branches of the State, and society as a whole, so that the deaths of these three officers are not—once and for all—just another statistic, but instead open our eyes and mobilize us."
What the killers seek with these acts is to undermine the rule of law and democracy, to divide and weaken us. We need justice to stand firm and the State to act more decisively and united, for the Government to support our police forces without hesitation, and for security to be addressed with concrete, bold, and timely actions that bring peace and justice to Biobío and every corner of our country.
