  • Police detained individuals linked to the Autonomous Mapuche Resistance after raids in Cañete and Contulmo.

In a series of police operations carried out in the towns of Cañete and Contulmo, in the Biobío Region, four individuals were arrested on suspicion of being linked to the Autonomous Mapuche Resistance (RMA), a radical group.

The raids, which led to the capture of the suspects, involved the inspection of eight homes and were executed by the Criminal Investigation Brigade (BIRO) of the Investigative Police from Concepción and Angol.
According to reports from Radio Biobío, the individuals are allegedly involved in various crimes, including robberies with intimidation. One of the most notable cases is the assault on a home in Cañete last year, where four masked individuals stole a safe and a vehicle while a woman and her two children were present.

The investigation, which led to the identification and arrest of the suspects, also resulted in the seizure of drugs, ammunition, and cell phones. The detainees have been transferred to a police unit for processing.

The Autonomous Mapuche Resistance has been identified as a group whose actions have primarily focused on the province of Malleco, in the La Araucanía region. These operations represent a continued effort by authorities to counter the activities of radical groups and ensure security in the region.
