  • Two truck drivers fell victim to a violent attack in the early hours, resulting in their vehicles being burned and a temporary disruption of traffic.

In the early morning hours, a disturbing incident shook the tranquility of Route 5 South, near the commune of Collipulli, when two truckers found themselves caught in an arson attack. According to initial reports, the event took place at kilometer 565, where masked and armed individuals, aboard a pickup truck, forced the drivers to stop and proceed to the Brigada Forestal area.

There, under threats, the truckers were forced to abandon their vehicles before the attackers proceeded to set them on fire. The flames quickly consumed the two trucks, causing a disruption in the southbound route. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.

Firefighters promptly arrived at the scene to extinguish the fire and work on reopening the highway. Meanwhile, the company Ruta Sur issued a recommendation via their X account, advising drivers heading south to take an alternate route: exit toward Route 180 in Los Ángeles, continue through Angol on Route 182, and rejoin Route 5 in Collipulli.

Authorities are already investigating the attack, seeking to identify and capture those responsible for this act of violence that has disrupted security and transportation flow on one of the country's most important roadways.
This attack adds to a series of similar incidents that have affected the area in recent times, creating an atmosphere of insecurity and concern among truckers and the local population.

The community awaits answers and effective measures to prevent future attacks and ensure safety on the country's roads.
