In an extraordinary session, the board of Maderas Arauco S.A. approved the commissioning and operation of an OSB product manufacturing line within the Trupán-Cholguán Complex, in the commune of Yungay, Ñuble Region.

The project involves an investment of approximately $100 million dollars, leveraging existing facilities, modernizing and renewing parts of the MDF1 line, and incorporating new processes and equipment.

This initiative represents one of the most significant investments in the history of the Ñuble Region: "We have decided to make this investment in an emblematic location for our company, such as the Trupán-Cholguán complex, reaffirming our commitment to the commune of Yungay and the region," said Cristián Infante, General Manager of Arauco.

It is also expected that during the construction of the project, an average of 200 workers will be employed, peaking at 300, prioritizing the hiring of local services and labor.

The future line—expected to begin operations in the second quarter of 2026—will focus on producing both bare and value-added OSB boards, products that will be marketed locally, thereby strengthening the national construction industry.

"With this project, we not only aim to expand our portfolio of wood-based products, delivering sustainable and high-quality solutions for our customers, but also to contribute to addressing the country's housing deficit," added Infante.
