  • Trhe Cañete Court imposed the most severe precautionary measure on the three defendants accused of murdering police officers.

After intense judicial debate, the Cañete Guarantee Court ruled preventive prison for Jefferson Alexander Antihuen Santi, Felipe Antonio Antihuen Santi, and Nicolás Rivas Paillao.

The three men are identified by the Public Prosecutor's Office as responsible for the homicide of three officers from the 4th Police Station of Los Álamos, which occurred on April 27. A fourth suspect, Tomás Antihuen, remains at large.

Judge Cristián Rosenberg de la Fuente, after analyzing ballistic and DNA evidence, testimonies, and call records, concluded there is sufficient proof to impose preventive prison, citing flight risk and the possibility of reoffending.

The evidence presented includes thanatological reports indicating the officers were shot with their hands up, and one of them was simultaneously shot by two different firearms.

The court's decision came after three hours of deliberations on the second day of hearings, where both the plaintiffs and the defense presented their cases. The prosecution has charged the detainees with five crimes: violent robbery, aggravated homicide of an on-duty officer, vehicle arson, illegal possession of firearms, and transportation of human remains.

The defendants Jefferson and Felipe Antihuen Santi, along with Nicolás Rivas Paillao, will serve the precautionary measure in the High-Security Prison of the Metropolitan Region. The court has set a six-month deadline for the investigation.
