Three individuals caught carrying weapons near forest property in Mariquina arrested
The Investigative Police (PDI) arrested three individuals caught carrying firearms while traveling near a forest property in Mariquina, in the Los Ríos region.
The operation was carried out by detectives from the Wood Theft Investigation Group of the Valdivia Criminal Investigation Brigade.
Subprefect Cristian Muñoz stated that the officers, during routine duties of their specialty, caught the individuals in the Estación Mariquina area, carrying two 12-millimeter shotguns and a 22-millimeter rifle, as well as ammunition.
The PDI reported that the detainees did not have at the time of the inspection any proper documentation for transporting or owning these weapons, charging them with the flagrant crime of violating the Weapons Law.
Although without criminal records, the three men were placed at the disposal of the judiciary, the police said.
