The Más Bosque program, in partnership with FAO, strengthens reforestation and the care of endemic flora in Dalcahue.

The National Forestry Corporation (Conaf), in collaboration with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), has invested 180 million pesos in upgrading a native tree nursery in Butalcura, Dalcahue. This project is part of the Más Bosque program, which aims to promote conservation and reforestation with endemic species in the Chiloé region.

The nursery improvements include a new administration office, a shade structure, a dining area for workers, and an automated irrigation system, marking a significant advancement in the site's infrastructure and working conditions.

Spanning 5,000 square meters, the Butalcura nursery is a key space for protecting Chiloé's biodiversity. María Barrientos, a nursery worker, expresses her passion for tree care, comparing them to her own children.

During his visit to the Archipelago, Agriculture Minister Esteban Valenzuela emphasized the importance of this effort, highlighting the native forest's contribution to food security and environmental resilience in the area.

Claudia Guineo, provincial head of Conaf, notes that the Más Bosque program has been crucial, with an investment of over 1,200 million pesos allocated to small landowners from 2022 to 2024, improving access to resources and technical assistance in the Archipelago.
