  • It is estimated that the use of this system will improve performance by 2 to 5%, increase production by 3%, and reduce energy consumption by 10%.

As part of the Corporate Program for Advanced Control and Process Optimization for Plants carried out by CMPC, the company expanded its partnership with Emerson and AspenTech to implement Aspen DMC3 technology in its plants in Chile and Brazil.

Using artificial intelligence, this software will optimize workflow across 15 processes within CMPC's pulp production—including washing, bleaching, drying, water treatment, and the use of turbo generators—by employing faster and more accurate models.

Thus, it is estimated that the use of this system will improve performance by 2 to 5%, increase production by 3%, and reduce energy consumption by 10%.

The adoption of this technology aligns with the company's commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2040 and meeting Scope 1, 2, and 3 emission reduction targets certified by Science Based Targets.

"Achieving our 2030 competitiveness goal, as our strategy challenges us to do, requires seeking the best available technologies in the market, even beyond our industry's boundaries—and this agreement is an example of that. This partnership gives CMPC the opportunity to incorporate cutting-edge technology in advanced process control and aligns us with AspenTech's roadmap for optimization and advanced control technologies," said Matías Jory, Factory Competitiveness Manager.

The implementation of this partnership spans a five-year period, during which Emerson and AspenTech will provide training to form a CMPC team specialized in using Aspen DMC3 software.

These training sessions have already begun in the city of Los Ángeles, where workers from the APC team of factory competitiveness and the plant systems engineering team of CMPC's Santa Fe facility took an initial course to learn about this innovative system and continue their training until full implementation.

Meanwhile, Marcelo Landa, Vice President of Emerson's Southern Cone region, stated, "We are pleased to be recognized as a strategic industrial technology partner for CMPC, supporting the delivery of smart solutions in key sectors for Chile and Brazil, such as the forestry and paper industry. We will continue working closely to optimize the competitiveness of their processes, aligning with their productivity and sustainability goals."
