Wood Theft Ring Dismantled in Valdivia: Three Arrested

- Joint operation by PDI and the Prosecutor's Office succeeds in capturing individuals involved in timber theft valued at millions.
In a successful operation, detectives from the SUMA team of the Valdivia Criminal Investigation Brigade, in collaboration with the Prosecutor's Office, arrested three men for the crime of wood theft in the communes of Paillaco and Mariquina. The suspects, caught in the act, now face justice with no prior arrest records.
The first arrest occurred on a property belonging to the Universidad Austral de Chile, where an individual was caught loading eucalyptus into a truck. Later, in the Laruche sector, two men were detained while attempting to flee in a truck loaded with radiata pine wood, lacking the required documentation for forestry work.
The confiscated material, including a truck, a self-loading crane, and a trailer, is valued at over 49 million pesos. The detainees, all Chilean adults, were placed at the disposal of the San José de la Mariquina Guarantee Court.
