CONAF Workers Begin Indefinite Nationwide Mobilization
- Unions Sinaprof and Sitrem lead a historic strike demanding leadership changes and labor improvements.
The unions of the National Forestry Corporation (CONAF), Sinaprof and Sitrem, announced the start of an indefinite nationwide mobilization beginning Monday, August 26 at 07:30.
This decision, made by a vast majority of the rank-and-file, arises in response to the management of CONAF's current Executive Director, Christian Little Cárdenas, and the need to address workers' demands.
According to the National Union of Professionals and the CONAF Workers' Union, the mobilization stems from widespread discontent due to the lack of dialogue and Little Cárdenas' inability to address employees' needs.
The unions accuse the director of lacking both soft and hard skills and showing a lack of empathy toward workers' legitimate demands. Given this situation, the main requirement before any dialogue can begin is the immediate removal of the executive director.
Additionally, they express their sorrow but also their conviction and courage in starting this mobilization process. They call on more unions and workers to join the cause in defense of the respect deserved by CONAF's noble work and its personnel, who have served the country for over 50 years.
The list of demands and requirements has been developed with regional bases and will be insisted upon during the mobilization. Workers clamor for dialogue, attention, and immediate solutions under the slogan "Today is the day! More united than ever!"
