Arson attack in Collipulli leaves forestry truck reduced to ashes
- Armed individuals intercept and burn truck in rural area, Carabineros search for those responsible.
A forestry transport truck was intercepted and burned by armed individuals this morning in the rural area of Luján, near Collipulli. The incident, which occurred around 9:30 a.m., has shocked the community and mobilized Carabineros forces in search of the perpetrators.
General Manuel Cifuentes, head of the Ninth Araucanía Zone of Carabineros, reported that the attack took place on an intermediate road connecting Routes R 49 and R 35, near the Curaco Police Station. According to his account, the armed individuals forced the truck operators to exit the vehicle before setting it on fire.
"We received some reports indicating that a wood transport truck was burned," stated General Cifuentes. "This occurred on a route connecting two main roads in the area of the Curaco Police Station, where armed individuals allegedly intercepted a wood transport truck, forced its operators to exit the vehicle, and subsequently set it on fire," he added.
Authorities have not yet identified those responsible for the attack, but an operation with various police resources has been deployed to locate them. The investigation is ongoing, and more information about the perpetrators is expected in the coming hours.
This type of incident is not isolated in the region, which has seen a series of similar attacks in the past, often linked to territorial conflicts or demands by indigenous groups. However, the motivation behind this particular attack has not been confirmed so far.
The local community and forestry workers have expressed concern about safety in the area and the recurrence of these violent acts, which affect both the industry and the peace of residents.
Carabineros de Chile has called on the public to provide any information that may be useful in capturing those responsible and has assured that all necessary measures are being taken to protect citizens and their property.
The situation is still developing, and authorities are expected to provide more details as the investigation progresses.
