  • The Chilean Chamber of Construction (CChC) demanded government action following the attack that destroyed eight trucks and caused millions in damages to companies in the Valparaíso Region. The incident mirrors what has been occurring in the southern macrozone.

Saturday night was marked by a violent arson attack that reduced eight trucks and part of the infrastructure of the El Melón cement plant in the San Antonio commune to ashes.

The anarchist group 'Switch Off Campaign' claimed responsibility for the attack, which has sparked a wave of reactions and condemnations from the Chilean Chamber of Construction (CChC) and put local and national authorities on alert.

The attack not only resulted in significant material losses for the affected companies but has also reignited the debate about security and the investment climate in the country. The CChC urgently called on authorities to pursue and punish those responsible for these acts, which they described as "violent and reprehensible."

The 'Switch Off Campaign' movement, which identifies as anti-capitalist and part of a global offensive against infrastructure contributing to the ecological crisis, declared this attack as the third in a series of sabotages targeting companies in the region. According to their statement, the goal is to "paralyze the operations of these companies" and "return some of the damage they have inflicted on the land for decades."

The CChC expressed its "total condemnation and absolute concern" over these events, emphasizing the importance of security as a "fundamental condition for development and investment in the country." The trade association insists on the need for effective measures to prevent future incidents that could affect Chile's economic and social stability.

Authorities have yet to identify those responsible for the attack, but the investigation remains ongoing. Meanwhile, the business community and residents of San Antonio await concrete responses and actions to ensure peace and order in the region, especially since this incident shares similarities with attacks recorded in the southern macrozone.
