  • The game "Let's Take Care of Our Native Forest!" consists of a board and a set of illustrated tiles, inviting children to reflect on how the health of forests is linked to the preservation of the planet.

Staff from the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) of Ñuble, along with their Regional Director, Osvaldo Alcayaga, visited the Javier Jarpa Sotomayor School to introduce children to a fun game about caring for native forests. Through this initiative, they aim to instill in younger generations the value and responsibility of protecting this vital natural resource.

The game, titled "Let's Take Care of Our Native Forest!", consists of a board and a set of illustrated tiles. It was developed by SAG in collaboration with the World Organization for Early Childhood Education (OMEP) and encourages children to reflect on how forest health is connected to the preservation of our planet.

Regarding this, the Regional Director of SAG Ñuble emphasized, "We are very happy because we are distributing and explaining to the school community a game that invites elementary school children, primarily, to understand forest care, recognize some trees and insects native to our country, as well as learn about and reinforce the work of SAG. Today, we had a very entertaining session where we engaged with around 60 children, along with the principal and their teachers, using this educational material."

Meanwhile, the school's lead teacher, Herna Burgos, thanked SAG for conducting the activity at this school. "It's a beautiful activity; the children really enjoyed it. They live in an area completely surrounded by nature, and this activity reinforces their knowledge, which they love... Some curriculum units complement this material, especially in science, living beings, and land use."

SAG Educates

Over the past 10 years, SAG, alongside other institutions, has developed educational materials for teachers, children, and their families. These include the stories "The Living Soil and the Traveling Earthworms" and "The Sweet Buzz"; the video series "Stories of Our Wildlife"; the books "Let's Protect Our Wildlife," "Let's Protect Our Flora," "Let's Learn with SAGüeso," and "Let's Get to Know Our Insects"; and the kamishibai "The Sustainable Farm." These resources are available for free on the SAG website, www.sag.cl.
