In an emotional ceremony at its station on Las Acacias Street, at the foot of Ñielol Hill, the Thirteenth Fire Company of Temuco has marked a historic milestone with the formalization of its specialization in wildfire combat. This official recognition, pending since 2018, solidifies the company's evolution from its origins as a forest brigade over two decades ago.

The company's director, Paulo Mena, expressed his satisfaction with the formal recognition of the specialization they have maintained since 1998. "This is a formal acknowledgment of the specialization we have upheld since 1998. Today, with the issuance of the daily order by the Command, our dedication and expertise in wildfire combat are officially recognized," he stated.

The company has worked closely with the National Forestry Corporation (Conaf), receiving comprehensive training and emergency support. Additionally, since 2014, they have invested in international training for their firefighters, now boasting at least 15 members trained under international standards.

The Commander of the Temuco Fire Department, Claudio Fuentes, along with various local authorities, attended the ceremony, offering their congratulations to the firefighters for this significant achievement.

The Thirteenth Company's goal is to continue progressing toward accreditation by the National Firefighters' Board and to form a specialized Wildfire Task Force. "We aim to be prepared with vehicles, uniforms, and personnel specifically trained for these emergencies, which are far more dangerous than structural fires," emphasized Mena, highlighting the importance of specialized training to confront the speed and hazards of wildfires.

The specialization of the Thirteenth Fire Company of Temuco represents a significant advancement in wildfire emergency preparedness and response, ensuring greater efficiency and safety for both firefighters and the community.
