Agreement with Shipping Company Boosts Sustainability and Forestry Development in Paraguay
Paraguay aims to position itself as a leader in sustainability and forestry development with an ambitious project presented by the government, which includes the elimination of harsh river obstacles. This follows the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC), the National Administration of Navigation and Ports (ANNP), and the company Transbarge Navegación SA of the international group J&F (TBN), as highlighted by Flavio Deganutti, representative of Paracel.
Deganutti noted that the initiative, in which Paracel's pulp mill plays a key role, stands out for its focus on environmental protection and promoting reforestation.
Additionally, he emphasized the detailed technical and scientific study on environmental aspects and the partnership with the river, demonstrating their commitment to sustainability.
The Paracel representative also stated that the project only becomes globally competitive with three key elements. The first is the quality of Paraguayan soil for forestry production.
The second highlighted aspect is the investment in Paracel's factory, amounting to USD 2.9 billion, within a total investment of USD 5 billion, underscoring the scale and economic impact of the project.
The third aspect is logistics. "We are competitive in forestry, and now we will also be competitive in river logistics transport—this is truly a two-way highway. Something interesting and something that will enable the doubling of these factories in Paraguay," concluded Deganutti.
