A shotgun was seized during the investigation into the murder of the three Carabineros in Cañete, where it was determined that the weapon was used in four violent incidents perpetrated in Bío Bío and La Araucanía.

The weapon is a Hatszan Scort 12-millimeter shotgun, seized on July 29, 2024, during an operation at a residence in Lleu-Lleu. It had been stolen from Carabineros personnel in the Bío Bío region on October 12, 2015.

Weapon yielded 4 "matches"
In this context, the weapon was analyzed by experts from the Carabineros Criminalistics Laboratory, yielding four "matches," meaning the ammunition and ballistic evidence found at the crime scenes indicate they were fired from this shotgun.

The information was confirmed to Radio Bío Bío by the regional prosecutor of La Araucanía, Roberto Garrido, who is investigating the murder of the three Carabineros officers that occurred in Cañete on April 27 of this year.

4 violent incidents linked to the seized shotgun
Additionally, it was confirmed that the weapon was used in an arson attack on September 29, 2021, at the Fundo Victoria in the El Guindo sector of Lebu, where an armed group burned trucks and machinery.

Another arson attack occurred at kilometer 34 of Route P-60R on July 20, 2021, where an armed group burned a house.

A third attack against authorities was recorded on June 21, 2019, at Parcel 13, Route P-72S, kilometer 29, in the Lleu Lleu sector, where a police officer assigned to a protection detail was shot.

In a fourth violent incident, the weapon "matched" an arson attack on April 28, 2019, at Fundo Anita II in the Carahue commune, where unidentified individuals burned two machines and left a banner reading: "Marco Paillacoy, we remember you fighting, ORT-CAM."

In this context, the Prosecutor's Office managed to arrest three individuals involved in the murder of the police officers, who are currently under preventive detention.

However, the incident raised concerns among authorities as it highlights the movement of firearms by radical groups operating between the Bío Bío and La Araucanía regions to carry out arson attacks.
