A fire nearly completely destroyed and caused significant losses at the Cerro Colorado sawmill, located at kilometer 3.5 on the road to Santa Bárbara. The incident mobilized volunteers from various fire companies in Los Ángeles.

According to information provided by the Second Commander of the Los Ángeles Fire Department, Rodrigo Godoy, the fire likely started in one of the production lines of the timber facility. "An industrial-scale fire, a sawmill with combustion in a sub-production line, leading to its spread toward the northern sector of the infrastructure. We are working with six units from the Los Ángeles Fire Department, 65 volunteers at this moment. There are no reported injuries, and we have the support of Carabineros in controlling access to the property. We have also been working with the assistance of two CMFC units, forestry units that, through their tools and equipment, have helped contain the fire's spread," he explained.

The efforts continued until the early hours of Saturday morning before the blaze was brought under control after more than 12 hours of firefighting. Heavy machinery and resources such as water tanks were used. "With heavy machinery, we were able to partially separate the accumulated bark fuel and carry out moisture work through our units to prevent further spread and embers. One of our biggest concerns is tomorrow's weather conditions—wind and temperature—which could lead to the spread of embers toward the northern zone and potentially ignite other uncontrolled fire outbreaks," added the volunteer.

Nevertheless, the site remains under observation due to lingering underground hotspots, which take longer to extinguish.
